We are pleased to announce that several dietitians in New Hampshire have been recognized by us and the Academy for their outstanding work to benefit the health of New Hampshire residents:

Stephanie Chmielecki

Stephanie Chmielecki has been awarded the Maggie Terninko Award in recognition for her leadership in public health and legislative issues involving nutrition at both the state and national level.

“Stephanie has worked extensively to benefit the health of so many of New Hampshire’s residents through her leadership of our public policy committee, by educating future dietitians at the dietetic internship program at Keene State University, and through her volunteer efforts in the local community,” says Peggy Connors, the immediate past president of the New Hampshire affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Chmielecki received her Bach in nutrition science from the University of New Hampshire, completed her dietetic internship at the New York Institute of Technology, and earned Master of Science in applied nutrition from Northeastern University.

Lisa Garcia

Lisa Garcia has been awarded the Emerging Dietetic Leader Award by the New Hampshire Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The award, whose criteria is established by the national organization the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, is given to a dietitian who has demonstrated leadership qualities in the active service either the national association or the state affiliate and promotes optimal health and concern for the nutrition status of people in the state through their professional and volunteer work.

In addition to serving on the boards of a variety of non-profit organizations, Garcia has held numerous positions on the board of the New Hampshire Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 2009 including serving as president of the state organization. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester, completed her dietetic internship at the University of New Hampshire, and earned a master’s of science in nutrition science from the University of Saint Joseph.

Ashley Brigham

Ashley Brigham has been awarded the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award by the New Hampshire Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The award, whose criteria is established by the national organization the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, recognizes a dietitian under the age of 35 who has demonstrated leadership qualities while promoting optimal health and concern for the nutrition status of people in the state through their professional and volunteer work.

Brigham received her Bachelor of Science in dietetics from the University of Delaware and completed her dietetic internship there. She currently works with public sector employees throughout New Hampshire as part of her work with HealthTrust. She has served on the nominating committee and been the chairman of the professional development committee for the New Hampshire Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
