In memoriam: Cheryl Franchi, MS, MBA, RDN, CSG, LD/N, FADA

The NHAND Board of Directors announces with great sadness the passing of Cheryl Franchi of Merrimack, NH, on Monday, July 27, 2020, at Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness.

A member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since May 1978, Cheryl joined the New Hampshire Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in February 1986. Cheryl served as Chair of the NHAND dietetic practice group Consulting Dietitians in Healthcare Facilities for many years. Cheryl also served on the Board of Directors of NHAND from 1995-2000 as Chair of Healthcare: Acute and Long Term Care. In 1998 Cheryl was honored as the NHAND Outstanding Dietitian of the Year. In March 1995 Cheryl was certified as a Fellow of the American Dietetic Association recognizing advanced level practice, professional achievements and expertise, and excellence in practice. In 2002 she was recognized as the Distinguished Consultant Dietitian, Area VII, CD/HCF/PP.

A highly motivated, outcome-oriented health care professional with many years of accomplishments in both medical nutrition therapy and foodservice operations, Cheryl was a strategic thinker and visionary leader. She was a people-oriented team player committed to achieving positive change. Those in the NHAND community who knew and worked with Cheryl will miss her very much.
