About the Job:

The Clinical Dietitian Provides nutritional care and education to assigned patients and members of the community.

What You’ll Do:

Job Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
• Experience: Not required; experience preferred.
• Certification/Licensure: Registered Dietitian within 90-days of hire required. Registered Dietitian at time of hire preferred. Licensed Dietitian in the State of New Hampshire within 90-days of hire required. Licensed Dietitian in the State of New Hampshire at time of hire preferred.

Private Practice Dietitian, satellite office available at affordable price

This is not your typical job announcement. The new office building for the Tamworth Community Nurse Association (TCNA), at 84 Main Street in Tamworth, includes a room dedicated to Visiting Health Professionals. Are you an RDN in private practice? Perhaps you have, or would like to develop, a clientele in the area of Tamworth and Sandwich. A very affordable rental of a room in which to see clients for 2 to 8 hours per month might be just what you need. You would not be an employee of TCNA, but rather a Visiting Health Professional, an RDN providing nutrition care. Therefore, previous experience in private practice is preferred.

You must be

  • Registered and licensed;

Dietician

Overview

Grafton County Nursing Home, located in North Haverhill, New Hampshire is seeking applicants for our contracted Registered Dietician position. This position has flexibility in the days worked and can vary between onsite and remote, based on availability. Given our Nursing Home’s size, we expect all work associated with this integral position in our Interdisciplinary Team, to be accomplished within 20hr – 24hrs per week.

The Registered Dietician is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the nutritional care and medical nutrition therapy for nursing home residents with a variety of health conditions and to provide technical assistance and recommendations concerning dietary and medical nutrition. The Registered Dietician shall exercise professional judgment and expertise in overseeing the dietary and medical nutrition of our nursing home residents. While experienced candidates with knowledge of long-term care are preferred, we believe this is an excellent opportunity for candidates recently registered who are looking to develop their clinical skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Consult with medical providers and other healthcare personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of residents.
• In conjunction with the Director of Dietary Services, develop and implement nursing home menus, including modified extensions, recipe conversions, and production requirements.
• Manage the Departmental nourishment/supplement and enteral formulary program.
• Document assessment findings on nutritional assessment and on the Minimum Data Set (MDS) within the timeframes required regulatory timeframes.
• Responsible for ensuring the initial comprehensive, change of condition, and quarterly nutrition assessment process is planned and completed within established regulatory timeframes.
• Attendance at interdisciplinary meetings, including but not limited to, nursing home resident care plan meetings, weekly risk management meetings.
• Collaborate with departments to develop and implement facility policies and procedures ensuring all staff, including nurses and medical providers, are aware of the resident’s nutritional requirements.

Under the direction of the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the Clinical Dietitian is the medical nutrition expert responsible for coordinating all phases of nutrition care including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation of patients and clients. The Clinical Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy services to clients in both the outpatient and inpatient areas and wellness programs, educating clients and families both as individuals and in groups. The Clinical Dietitian participates in the department and hospital to promote organizational standards. There will be some travel between two campuses (Biddeford and Sanford) to provide dietitian coverage at both locations. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) •

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics/Nutritional Sciences from an accredited college or university preferred.

• License/Certifications: Licensed by the State of Maine required.

• Experience: One (1) year of outpatient dietitian practice or a minimum of three (3) years teaching classes and educating patients/clients in an outpatient setting preferred. At least one (1) year inpatient hospital experience preferred.

• Registered by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Commission on Dietetic Registration required.

Dietetic Technician

Overview
The Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) Department at Dartmouth-Hitchcock encompasses Patient Food Services, Clinical Nutrition, and Dining Services. FNS aims to provide a nutritional environment which supports a population-level approach to a healthy diet and aligns with the D-H commitment to improve the health and wellness of our patients, employees, and community and create a sustainable health system. Clinical Nutrition Services is comprised of registered dietitians and dietetic technicians who provide inpatient nutrition care to the admitted adult and pediatric patients of Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Our Diet Techs assist the clinical dietitians in patient assessments and nutrition education as well as prepare formula and human milk feedings in our milk lab. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, benefitted position.

We are offering a $3,000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *The bonus is available for external hires only (or current D-H employees moving to a 30 - 40 hour per week position from a per diem role) and certain conditions apply.

Responsibilities

  • Screens patients for nutritional risk using data from medical record and patient interviews. Refers patients to Registered Dietitian per screening protocol.
    Responsible for the preparation and delivery of infant feedings. Preparation techniques must adhere to all sanitary regulations and standards.
    Inventories and maintains sufficient infant feeding room supplies.
  • Records calorie counts per Registered Dietitian.
  • Calculates dietary meal patterns (e.g., diabetic, sodium, protein).
  • Completes diet instructions with patients and/or families.
  • Assesses patient weight histories and performs interventions.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have good verbal and written communication and computer skills.
  • Associates degree in a health or related field, (with 1 year of dietary experience) or the equivalent in education and experience preferred.

Director of Food and Nutrition Services

Overview
Responsible for the planning, direction, management, and operation of all food and nutritional services. This includes overall responsibility of the care and operation of all dietary services and facilities including cafeterias and catering of special functions for DH and other organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes standards of operation that assure all patients and staff of the hospital are provided with a nutritionally sound, quality controlled, satisfying and appealing dietary service. Such standards to be in accordance with established hospital policy, pertinent recommendations of the Joint Commission for Hospital Accreditation, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manages and directs departmental operations in accordance with fiscal limitations established by approved budgets.
  • Prepares the annual budget for the department.
    Maintains adequate qualified staff for clinical dietetics, production, patient service, and cafeterias. Interviews, hires, evaluates, counsels, and terminates personnel in accordance with approved master staffing levels and established personnel policies. Provides in-service or continuing education to develop the skills of the Dietary staff and to comply with applicable accreditation standards.
  • Establishes, implements, and continually evaluates departmental policies, procedures, and objectives in order to achieve the highest affordable standard of patient care. Secures administrative approval. Interprets, endorses, and implement inter-departmental policies and procedures. Objectives will cover food procurement, handling and preparation, employee duties and work schedules, personnel training programs, etc.
  • Establishes and continually monitors specifications for all food products used or served in the Medical Center. Maintains adequate inventory levels consistent with good food services, patient care, and fiscal criteria.
  • Develops, implements, and continually monitors quality control/quality assurance procedures for Dietary Services.
  • Prepares, maintains, and issues all records and reports required by DH and external agencies.
  • Maintains communication and cooperative working relationships with all departments of DH. Serves on selected committees to plan and integrate policies, procedures, services and systems which may impact on Dietary Services and other departments.
  • Participates in THA activities in developing a regional strategy for Food & Nutrition Services by developing and maintaining working relationships with regional organizations and providing contracted services.
    Establishes and maintains pricing procedures for the staff cafeteria and other applicable special functions in accordance with DH policy.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in nutrition, food services management, or related field with 5 years of experience as a Director or Assistant Director of a Dietary Department, preferably in an academic medical center, is required.
Advanced academic training preferred.
