Make your voice heard to help families and seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics shares our members’ concerns for the health and safety of our nation. We know dietetics professionals are being asked to assume additional responsibilities during this unprecedented national emergency and that students are facing programmatic changes with internships placed on hold. The uncertainty of the future is certainly difficult for our profession; however, the Academy is committed to our members and to the public

On the national level, the Academy is taking significant measures to address each of these challenges and want to assure our members that we are engaged in policy initiatives to ensure access to food and nutrition care are part of the response to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. We need your help to ensure our food and nutrition programs that reduce food security remain reliable during this unstable time and that MNT services are available through telehealth.

Action Needed: We are asking all Academy members to communicate immediately with your Congressional leaders regarding proposed COVID-19 pandemic legislation.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the bipartisan Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which among other important provisions, will help ensure access to food for those affected by the pandemic including our most vulnerable population: children and seniors. Now, the U.S. Senate must pass legislation so state and local entities can take prompt action to address the imminent needs of their communities. Send a message to your senators asking them to support the bill by clicking here. It takes just a few minutes but is vital to the most vulnerable in our communities.
